SCAQMD Rule 1466
Air quality at construction & remediation sites is crucial, not just for the health of the workers but also for the surrounding community. Rule 1466 sets specific requirements for these sites to ensure air pollution is minimized.
South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is the regulatory agency responsible for improving air quality for large areas of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, including the Coachella Valley. South Coast AQMD controls emissions primarily from stationary sources of air pollution. About 25,500 such businesses are operating under South Coast AQMD permits.
Their rule 1466 aims to minimize off-site fugitive dust emissions from earth-moving activities at sites containing specific toxic air contaminants by establishing dust control measures. It establishes specific requirements for monitoring, dust control, notification, and documentation.
Rule 1466 is not only relevant in California. Many other states also refer to this rule, forming the basis of regulatory requirements.
Right now, there are only six devices that are pre-approved by SCAQMD. Among those are the AQ Guard Smart 1000, 1100, and 1200 from Palas. The AQ Guard Smart System from Palas meets all requirements to help reduce air pollution in the USA.
You benefit from:
Sunshade
The AQ Guard Smart System can be equipped with a sunshade to reduce direct sunlight and overheating of the device. The sunshield can also be used as protection for the device itself, e.g., on construction sites or other areas (wind/snowfall/rain).
Weather station
To better understand the fine dust input and its cause, the device is optionally available with a corresponding weather station, which provides supplementary meteorological information.
Touch panel
The touch panel allows direct display as well as configuration of the system via a USB port provided below or inside.
Signal lamp
A switchable signal light (green/yellow/red), connected via the system’s WiFi hotspot, visualizes limit value overruns.
NTi Audio
NTi Audio AG is a leading manufacturer of test and measurement solutions for acoustics, audio and vibration applications.
With headquarters in Schaan, Liechtenstein, and its US subsidiary they specialize in products for environmental noise measurement at construction sites, airports, live sound venues and sports arenas. Their systems are available as permanent installations and as portable kits.
